Porsche Roxster

May 9, 2008 · Print This Article

The auto paparazzi have captured another headlining picture this week with the introduction of Porsche’s new “baby-SUV”. Captured testing in Germany the new vehicle is rumored to be based of the Audi Q5 platform and may even feature the same 3.2L V6 spinning all four wheels. That is where the similarities end as this new baby-Porsche features a much steeper D-Pillar and obviously lower ride height hinting at Porsche’s intentions for this to be more atuned to the Michael Andretti crowd rather than the Granola-eating-Tieva-Sandle-wearing-Subaru-Forester-driving-SUV drivers.
Rumours are floating around the internet of this car wearing a “Roxster” badge on it’s rear-decklid. Personally this sounds like a cheap attempt at trying to ride the thunder of rock-stars and if we’re going to start using other-Porsche names we might as well designate this car the “Mini-Cayenne” or “Mian”. For those that remember a year ago in may, the German auto maker put on a stern face and said that the Roxster would not be built. Now after seeing these spied shots popping up everywhere, the Roxster’s slow re-rising most likely stems from the fact that Porsche now has a controlling interest in Audi, which will make the use of the Q5 platform very easy and not to mention, convenient.
