Brilliance Hoping Eyeing Euro Foothold in 2009
February 8, 2009
Chinese car manufacturer Brilliance China Auto hopes to make a stronger impact on the European automobile market in 2009, with plans to extend its reach across Europe, particularly to the United Kingdom.
Brilliance, also known as Huachen in China, launched in Germany last year and managed to sell 1,000 units of its BS4 and BS6 sedans. It should be noted that the BS6 failed some Euro NCAP crash tests back in 2007 and needed some revisions before it got a passing mark and was able to finally release in 2008. In 2009, the automaker hopes to reach the 6,000-unit sales figures as it expands throughout Europe.
“I’m quite confident we can achieve this,” said Brilliance European distributor HSO Motors’ managing director Hans-Ulrich Sachs, “as we have small series homologation for the BS4 and the BS6, and we are working on the BS2.”
Brilliance also intends to establish itself in the North American market and, along with development of new models “at great pace”, the Chinese manufacturer seems really poised for growth. With added technical help and more attention to the development process, the company should be able to make respectable cars for future releases.

Introducing: the Corvette-based n2a Anteros
February 5, 2009
After wowing New York last month with its old-school throwback 789 convertible, n2a Motors is at it again. This time, they’re making an all-new incredible car off the 2009 Corvette platform, turning it into a sleek high-performance car dubbed the Anteros.
The first thing that stands out about the Anteros is its iconic Italian styling, but things don’t stop there. Ultra-light carbon composite fiber is used for the body, while the interior is furnished entirely with hand-stitched leather trim. The Anteros also features three-piece aluminum wheels and a custom exhaust. The silver Coupe based on the Z06 platform also sports a Lingenfelter performance package, boosting the output to 630 horsepower.
The good thing about the Anteros is that it retains the Corvette’s 100,000 mile warranty and Anteros owners can have their cars serviced at recognized GM dealers.
They’re up for order now, and it’s going to take about 12 weeks from order to assembly. Of course, they don’t come cheap. The Anteros starts out at $149,500 for the basic Coupe, and the convertible costs $154,500. The Z06 Coupe fetches $176,500. All are available with optional power-boost packages.
