Geneva 2009: Infiniti Essence Concept Debuts
March 4, 2009
In celebration of its 20 years of existence, Infiniti has made the Infiniti Essence Concept, which is designed to not only signify the Nissan luxury brand’s rich tradition but also show the way when it comes to future designs and philosophies.
For one thing, the Infiniti Essence Concept carries a glimpse into Infiniti’s future hybrid powertrain configuration. The company has expressed its intention to be an all-hybrid brand within 10 years, and the Essence Concept is the first true execution of this plan.
The car is powered by a 3.7-liter twin-turbo with direct-injection good for 434 horsepower, with a 158-horsepower electric motor. Additionally, the car has a power-assist mode that can push it to 592 horsepower as the electric motor and the standard engine work together. There’s a Li-Ion battery at the trunk, and it can be recharged by recycling kinetic energy gained from braking. Mileage is pegged at 30 mpg.
You can really see the effort that has gone into the creation of the Infiniti Essence Concept, and I believe the brand has done a good job to make the car represent the ‘essence’ of the brand in terms of what it wants to be in the future.

Hyundai Genesis Prada Hits Seoul
March 2, 2009
Korean car manufacturer Hyundai and world-class Italian fashion label Prada have worked together to come up with the special edition Hyundai Genesis Prada, which was unveiled yesterday in Seoul.
The Hyundai Genesis Prada comes with customized interiors featuring special saffiano leather upholstery. The car also has a new Prada-designed body work, along with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels.
The car also sports a unique metallic blue color scheme. This paint job, along with titanium and dark matte plated gold trim for the grille, exterior door handles, and the emblem, helps bring out the Prada’s lines and curves. Inside, the car also gets some gold-plated detailing along with wood grain paneling.
The Hyundai Genesis sedan is already becoming quite popular, and this ultra-luxury version helps spice things up further. The addition of a high-end interior and enhanced exteriors really complement the already-sleek sedan. The collaboration is also a great boost for Hyundai’s bid to extend its products into the luxury segment.
