Oh here we go again with the marketing and advertising game. Hats off to Hyundai for really turning things around for their company through excellent marketing strategies like capitalizing on the Cash for Clunkers program and anxiety marketing.

Some automakers, however, seem to have just relied on hopefully snappy taglines to prop up their brand’s value. Mitsubishi made a hash of their chance with “Mitsubishi@World.” Buick doesn’t want to make that same boo-boo so they came up with “The new class of world class.”

Okay. Finished snickering now? Well, you have to hand it to Buick for trying to turn things around after its near-extinction after General Motors declared bankruptcy. So will Buick be a real competitor in the luxury vehicle market?

Well, they will be starting the drum banging on the 2010 Buick LaCrosse sedan soon with which they will start using the new tagline. The new advertising materials are also targeted to contest Lexus’ reign as the top luxury brand in the US.
