3 Tesla Executives Die in Plane Crash

Just when the company’s starting to take off, three of its executives die in a plane crash.
A plane carrying 3 Tesla executives crashed shortly after takeoff from Palo Alto Airport. No word yet on who exactly those 4 people are. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, VP of Communications Ricardo Reyes and VP for Business Development Diarmuid O’Connell were not on board the flight.
Elon Musk posted on Twitter: “We lost 3 employees in a plane crash today. We’re a small company and this is a tragic day. Our thoughts go out to their families.”
So far, foggy conditions and poor visibility are considered to be reasons that prompted the crash. No other injuries on the ground was reported.
Tesla Set for IPO?

So who’s interested in putting their money to an electric car company. Tesla is reported to be set to go public with an initial public offering.
While Tesla has not confirmed the rumors, the company has not denied the reports as well. The IPO talk has been around in the company since two years ago when there were points when Tesla needed some influx of capital.
Tesla has done well for themselves selling their Tesla Roadsters quite well. However, not too many investors are keen on putting a stake in the electric car market especially with the volatile status of other companies in the same line of business like battery maker A123.
If we’re betting on the future, I’d rather put my money on hydrogen fuel-cell technology. My money’s on Honda on the future of alternative-fueled vehicles.
Tesla Roadster Sport Revealed

Tesla should be more than happy that they’re in the black and selling cars pretty well. Quite a lot of people are interested in amazingly fast, super quite, all electric sports car that Tesla’s just keeping themselves busy filling in orders.
And they won’t stop with new offerings in their product line. This here’s the first official picture of the Tesla Roadster Sport – a faster and meaner version of the standard Tesla Roadster.
The car packs a mean 284 bhp. This doesn’t seem like much but all that can propel the Roadster Sport from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds – 0.2 seconds faster than the standard Roadster.
So it might not blitz the standard car but aero bits like the rear spoiler and a lighweight carbon fiber hood helps plant the car on the road better. The Sport version also has a push-button transmission selector instead of a shift knob.
To help the car around corners, the Sport packs Yokohama Ultra High Performance tires and a stiffer suspension setting with adjustable dampers. Anti-roll bars are also fitted to make sure that the car’s performs better than the standard car around a track.

Tesla Turns Profit from Roadster

All the other auto makers are reporting losses but Tesla isn’t one of them. The makers of the Tesla Roadster electric vehicle reported a record sales of 109 units in July enabling the company to net a good $1 million from a revenue of $20 million.
Tesla cites reduced costs and improved margins on the latest version of the Roadster. The base model ships for $101,500 while a high-performance version costs $120,000
Tesla started deliveries on the high-performance Roadster Sport model. The $18,500 price bump pays for a more powerful motor, tuned suspensions, and forged wheels. The latest version of the new Roadster 2 includes enhancements over the previous model.
With the prices not necessarily at the family saloon range, most buyers of the roadster come from the more affluent of markets including several celebrities. That didn’t stop Tesla from forging a new financing program through Bank of America.
If you fancy one, you might not be able to drive one soon as there’s a 4-5 month waiting period. At least that ensures Tesla of some business over the next months.
Tesla CEO Sued by Former Partner

Tesla has been enjoying a ton of good news these past few months, from the success of their Roadster to the Daimler partnership and news of upcoming models. Something not quite good was bound to happen sometime.
Martin Eberhard, who co-founded Tesla Motors with CEO Elon Musk, is now suing Musk for taking credit for the Roadster’s development and for Tesla’s success as a whole.
“In his zeal to appropriate Eberhard’s legacy, Musk has instead sullied Tesla Motors’ integrity and blemished Tesla Motors’ reputation and prosperity,” as stated in Eberhard’s lawsuit. He also accused Musk of orchestrating Eberhard’s 2007 exit from Tesla.
Tesla, however, was quick to counter and defended its CEO, insisting that the allegations are unfounded. A statement from the company claimed that the lawsuit “is an unfair personal attack and, more importantly, paints an inaccurate picture of Tesla’s history.” Tesla is expected to file a counter-lawsuit against Eberhard.star wars episode iv a new hope free download

Tesla’s 500th Roadster Delivered

It seems like the good times keep rolling over at Tesla Motors, with news that the company has delivered the 500th unit of its highly-popular electric Tesla Roadster.
The recipient of the 500th Roadster is Martin Tuchmann, a former auto engineer and current philanthropist in New Jersey. Tuchmann expressed delight at the Roadster, saying that the car “drives like a dream.” Tuchmann is no stranger to electric-powered transportation, as he had converted his boat to electric power so that he could legally use it on Lake Carnegie.
The news follows developments where Daimler AG acquired a 10-percent equity stake in Tesla that should help bolster the company’s tech as well as speed up development of electric vehicles considerably. The partnership will likely focus on the development of a Smart ForTwo fleet as the model is slated to start sales in late 2010, as well as a Smart EV roadster.
The volume at which Tesla sells its Roadster is pretty good, especially since other high-performance EV sales aren’t doing very well. Tesla sales should ramp up further once the Model S sedan and the next-gen Roadster hits the market.
