Audi R8 Spyder with 4.2L V8 Coming in 2011
February 23, 2010

Audi just came out with the Audi R8 Spyder that’s powered by a 5.2L V10 FSI engine but word has it that Audi will be coming out with a tamer (and cheaper) version that packs a 4.2L V8 by next year.
The 5.2L V10 dishes out a wicked 525 hp that allows the car to sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds. Yup, it’s that fast in a drop top.
If going that fast isn’t your style, then the coming of the tamer V8 would probably be great news for you. Who needs face melting speed when you’re trying to enjoy an afternoon drop top ride anyway?
And get this. The V8 will be $30,000 cheaper than the V10, so it would be more accessible to those who almost flinched in the past recession.
Not too many details are out yet but source say that the V8 will be mated to either a flappy-paddle R-tronic box or a proper 6-speed manual.
Audi E-tron Unveiled at Detroit 2010
January 12, 2010

Audi brought the E-tron. I’m with critics with this. E-tron is not a good name. It just evokes a cheap Transformers reference. And the “E-” thing is so passe when it comes to the environment or EVs.
Anyway, the E-tron is supposed to be an electric sports car slotted below the R8.
Now this version is a bit different from the E-tron we saw back in the 2009 Frankfurt show. This car packs two electric motors and channels the power to the rear wheels.
It dishes out a total of 201 bhp but packs a still-whopping 1955 lb-ft of torque (down from the 3319 lb-ft of the Frankfurt E-tron. That’s still enough to get the car from stanstill to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds.
Audi Teases A1 Supermini
December 15, 2009

Quite a lot of minis out there and it looks like it’s time to actually segment them based on price and market appeal.
This here’s the Audi A1 which Audi plans to unveil at the Geneva motor show next year.
The car will come with a range of engines. There’s a 1.2L turbocharged gasoline engine which will be offered with two power configurations – one dishing out 84 bhp and the other 104 bhp.
On the upper end of the gasoline range, there’s a 1.4L version dishes out 120 bhp and a turbo- and supercharged version that dishes out 168 bhp.
A diesel will also be part of the lineup which will be tuned to dish out either 75 bhp, 90 bhp, and 105 bhp.
As far as the supermini scale is concerned, this car’s going up there with the likes of the Mini with a price range of £13,000 to £20,000.
2010 Audi A8 Revealed
December 1, 2009

Audi just unveiled their lxuury saloon that has been the company’s competitor to the Mercedes S-Class and the BMW 7 Series. The Audi A8 has struggled to put up a fight against the Beemer and the Merc but that’s not stopping Audi from trying.
The car is powered by several choices of engines with a 3.0 V6 diesel with the base model. A 4.2L V8 diesel also comes as a choice. The range-topping 4.2L V8 dishes out 366 bhp and can propel the car from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds.
Inside, the car gets a slew of tech and luxury. The car features a touch pad next to the gear stick with which to access the car’s multi-media interface (MMI) system via handwriting.
The car also packs a Pre-Sense safety system, the basic version of which closes the windows and the sunroof while tightening the seatbelts and flashing the hazard lights when the car enters a skid or emergency braking.
Prices start at £53,595.

Audi Working on New R10 Supercar
November 23, 2009

So sister company Lamborghini has announced that it will be putting out a new car to replace the Murcielago (the Jota) and possibly an Enzo competitor (the Urus). Audi wouldn’t be far behind.
Word has it that Audi will be developing a new flagship supercar to be slotted above the R8 so far dubbed as the R10. It will be sharing the platform with the Jota Murcielago replacement.
The car will pack a 5.0L V10 that would dish out 600 bhp. The engine will be mounted in the middle atop Audi’s aluminum spaceframe chassis. The body will be made from carbon fiber for lightweightedness.
These combined with Audi’s four-wheel drive will give the car the zippiness to deal with 0-60 mph in just a bit over 3 seconds.
Looks like we’ll still be treated to a number of gas-powered supercars over the next few years even if the rest of the industry has gone green. Way too green.

Audi R8 Spyder Unveiled
September 15, 2009
We’ve always admired the Audi R8. For one, it’s the car that Tony Stark drives in the Iron Man move and who doesn’t want to be Tony Stark? Reports have it that he’ll be driving a new one in the next film and if so, this is surely a tasty sneak preview.
Meet the Audi R8 Spyder which has just been recently unveiled at the Frankfurt show. Power still comes from the same old 5.2L V10 from the V10 version of the coupe mated to either a six-speed proper manual or a six-speed R tronic.
The powertrain allows the car to go from 0 to 62 mph and 4.1 seconds. The car goes all the way up to 194 mph. Not at all bad for a soft-top though it leaves you wondering how the heck will a cloth roof withstand 194 mph.
To save on weight, the Spyder does away with side blades. Panels have also been swapped for lighweight carbon fiber. The top’s electrohydraulic that opens and closes in 19 seconds.
