Bentley Mulsanne-based Azure Convertible
April 27, 2010

Bentley’s not done yet. While Mercedes is slowly easing out the Maybach brand, Bentley will stay on in the ultraluxury market segment.
Bentley’s updating its fleet as well. With the Arnage slowly being eased out, the future of the Azure convertible goes with it.
Good thing is, as the new Mulsanne sedan takes over the mantle of the Arnage, a new convertible based on the Mulsanne will keep the Continental GT as Bentley’s drop tops.
The convertible is most likely to keep the Azure monicker. It is also set to pack the same 6.8L twin-turbo V8 found in the Mulsanne.
With 505 hp, the car would be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5-ish seconds. That’s quite impressive given the mammoth weight of the Bentley plus the structural reinforcements commonly added to convertibles.
Bentley Considering Continental Supersports Convertible
October 5, 2009
You might remember the Bentley Continental Supersports. It’s only the fastest and most-powerful Bentley ever with its 630 hp and 204 mph top speed coming from a W12 engine?
Now Bentley is considering lopping off the top of the car to make it into a convertible. While it wouldn’t rival the Bugatti Veyron GrandSport in both power and speed, it’s still be a stark raving mad car.
Design-wise Bentley can readily build upon its current line particularly if they toy around with the Continental GTC Speed and the existing Supersports. The Supersports already packs beefed up suspensions and carbon fiber bits.
The tricky part is to enhance its structural integrity (due to the loss of the roof) without compromising performance. The added weight usually takes some edge off a car.
The Supersports has just hit the market for the current coupe version so a convertible might take a year or so before it gets released. No word yet on the green light but it’s most likely to come.

Bentley Mulsanne Coupe and Convertible Coming
September 27, 2009
Bentley spent so much hyping their Grand Bentley – the Mulsanne – that they plan to capitalize on it for future models in hopes for it to set a standard for luxury cars.
Bentley plans to create a family out of th Mulsanne and a coupe and a convertible are two models likely to be spawned by the car as Bentley looks for replacements for the Brooklands and Azure marquees.
The Mulsanne, which debuted at the Frankfurt show, packs a 6.75 V8 twin-turbo that dishes out 505 hp and 725 lb-ft of max torque. The engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Bentley’s Dr Ulrich Eichhorn told Auto Express: “With this car, we assessed the performance, craftsmanship and refinement of the Arnage and enhanced it in every way. We have produced a car of the highest possible quality.”

Video: New Grand Bentley Teaser
July 22, 2009
Oh would you quit it, Bentley. I’m personally placing this “Grand” Bentley teaser run as the wort so far. Congratulations, you’ve displaced Subaru’s lame efforts with their Impreza teaser run.
Anyway, so what’s new with this teaser video?
It features Dirk van Bracckel, Bentley’s chief designer, with his take on the new Bentley’s design. It’s voiced over a video of a hand sketching the car’s lines. As for the actual car’s looks, the video features snapshots of a headlamp which is reminiscent of classic Bentleys and the rear fender lines.

Yet Another Bentley Teaser
July 9, 2009
Come on, Bentley! What’s the point of teasing everyone? Most people logged on to the internet can’t afford your cars anyway, and you won’t be better off sending post cards of silhouettes to those who have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spare.
Bentley has released yet another one of those by-now-irritating teaser images. This time, it’s a preview of the the car’s slope from the back. Up front, the car will also feature a twin-headlight arrangement.
The car is expected to be unveiled in next month’s Pebble Beach concours in California. It might shock Bentley fans with styling that allegedly feature “dynamic proportions.” Powering the car is the same turbocharged 6.75L V8 but with new components.
The car will definitely have a new name leaving many speculating whether the company will continue using French designations
Grand Bentley Teasers Come Aplenty
June 27, 2009
Bentley still is slugging it out with rivals Rolls Royce and Maybach for the better share in the ultra-luxury market. Bentley’s currently hyping their Arnage replacement and there’s just a slew of teaser videos for their “Grand Bentley.”
The new model is expected to get a hefty price-bump compared to the current version positioning it as the competitor to the Rolls-Royce Phantom. This will turn the battle into punch-for-punch slug fest as Rolls-Royce is set to unleash the Ghost to haunt the Bentley Continental Flying Spur.
Word around the campfire is that the car will be based heavily on Audi’s modular platform that’s in use in various cars from the A4 to the A8. As for the powertrain lineup a V8 mated to an 8-speed automatic. A diesel might even be under consideration.
Bentley has gone nuts on the teaser campaign, unleashing video after video. You can check them out after the cut.
