HAMANN X6!!!

June 11, 2008

There are a great many tuners out there in the car world, but none come close to the sleek and non so riced out factor as does HAMANN. Yes maybe The LP640 they did was abit on the WILD side but it was still tame enough to catch the eye of people who usualy have a great distaste for any form of mods on exotics. Most Recently HAMANN have taken the brand new BMW X6 and done what they do best, make a car look better then it did stock! On an SUV as such we are used to seeing chromed out 22″ rims and tints on all windows, but the classy yet very sporty rims HAMANN have thrown on are a great fit.

Lamborghini Reventon Takes to the Skies

June 9, 2008

Today in Turin Italy a military helicopter piloted by the Marina Militare Italiana, the Italian Marine Corp took to the skies with a special payload, the Lamborghini Reventon, car stylized after an F-22 Raptor, Thanks to the Italian Military they gave the supercar the opportunity to come as close as it ever will to skimming through the skies like the jet engined fighter jet it was based on.

The Reventon came to rest upon the Lingotto building as a ceremonial ending to the “Lamborghini and Speed - A Project in Record Time.” A conference hosted by Lamborghini showcasing production design, and timescale abilities as shown by Lamborghini by producing the $1 million dollar supercar. The conference was apart of the “Turin 2008 - World Design Capital” festivities and had many local, and international VIPs, including many representatives from the automotive industry.

The Plateless 599 GTB Involved in Street Race Stolen?

June 6, 2008

Just yesterday we brought you the story of the Bugatti Veyron and the Ferrari 599 GTB racing down a UK highway. CarFront has been doing some homework, and attempting to find the identities of the drivers. There may be more to this story than the what we saw on the surface, and deeper reasoning on why the black 599 wasn’t sporting a number plate and on top of that didn’t stop when a police pursuit began.

A little over a week ago a Black Ferrari 599 GTB was reported stolen in Cote d’Azur, in Monaco. A few posts popped up on the forums over at FerrariChat.com advising fellow members to please be on the look out for the car.

The post described the car as having:

  • Black exterior
  • Shields
  • Challenge wheels
  • Yellow CCB’s
  • Black alcantara daytona seats
  • White stiching all over
  • Alcantara covered rollbar
  • White cavallinos stitched in the headrests”

Obviously we can only see so much from the one picture snapped of the car, but it seems to match. So was this someone foreseeing, the possibility of running into the police while having some fun out on the highway, so plates were removed? Or is the reasoning a bit beyond that? We’ll let you draw your own conclusions, but we will let you know any new tid bits we find out.

Bugatti Veyron and Ferrari 599 GTB Street Racing

June 4, 2008

If you’re contemplating taking your Veyron out to school the little boys in their 599’s, you best know what the repercussions might be. We know a situation such as this might be, and most likely will be MUCH different if you are in the states, However in the UK, you’d be looking at 3 points on your record and a fine that’s a mere droplet compared to what you paid for the car at £60 (about $120.)

We have two blokes to thank for these numbers, that were out for a little fun in Hampshire, UK. Attention was obviously brought to the two supercars stretching their legs, and a pursuit ensued. The BMW police car got up to 140mph chasing the two, when the Veyron decided to pull over, while the 599 kept going, and ultimately got away.

“We were in hysterics when we saw the Bugatti had been stopped. The policeman had a furious look that suggested the driver was in tons of trouble.”

Said a motorist who managed to snap a couple pictures of the cars, one as the two went racing by, showing the 599 may have been expecting some unwanted attention and was not sporting a license plate. Another of the Veyron while it’s pulled over.

Porsche 997 GT3 RS Update Spied

June 3, 2008

The good folks at AutoCar caught the updated, mind blowing GT3 RS making rounds at the Nurburgring.  It’s expected to hit showrooms next year and have Porsche’s new seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission, officially presented as Porsche Doppel Kupplung (PDK). The German car makers strictly paddle-shifting system. We can expect to see a new, redesigned front bumper. An R8 style LED driving lights as well as LED tail lights on the new GT3 RS. Engine wise, it should get a nice kick where it counts, adding an additional 40bhp than the current 410bhp, bringing it Porsche’s lightweight track star to 450bhp.

Supercharged Audi S4 Debuting at Paris

June 3, 2008

Scheduled to be unveiled in the next six months, the new Audi S4 is coming with a little something special this time around.  A supercharged 3.0 liter V6 producing around 350 hp. Audi, is ditching their current 4.2 liter V8.  CAR was the lucky ones who got to confirm these details while they were reviewing the Audi S5.  They also confirmed that the new S4 will be equipped with the same seven-speed gearbox found in the S5.  Putting shift times at around 200 ms.  Yes this is going to be quite a car, but save the new RS4 coming in 2010 for me.
