I was hoping that Michael Schumacher would impress in his comeback. I thought it wouldn’t be like Michael Jordan’s comeback with age and band knees and all. But it seems that that’s the case.

Even Stirling Moss thinks that Schumi should quit Formula One so as not to “damage his achievements.”

“He’s a highly intelligent bloke, and all he’s going to do is damage his achievements,” said Moss. “People are going to say that he’s past it now, which he probably is. We’ve never seen Michael with a ‘number two’ who has been comparable. He had Rubens Barrichello, who no doubt is an extremely good driver but not necessarily a winner.”

Schumacher created buzz last season when he entertained the possibility of a comeback in the light of Felipe Massa’s accident. That didn’t materialize due to Schumi’s own injuries. He’s back this season though, teaming up with Ross Brawn with Mercedes GP.

He has failed to impress though, only able to secure a few points. So far, he places tenth with ten points on the board.

Now this is a classy move from one of the young turks of Formula One. Respecting the veterans and giving credit where credit is due.

Toro Rosso rookie driver Jaime Alguersuari gave props to comeback veteran Michael Schumacher for “teaching” him how to push F1 cars to the limits.

“Michael showed me the way to drive a Formula One car on the limit, with other drivers. This was very important. To finish the Australian Grand Prix and to fight against him showed me the way – like how to be aggressive with other people,” said the Spanish driver.

Alguersuari was able to manage to tally two points by finishing 9th in the race.

Defending world champion Jenson Button’s out to prove that his win last season was no fluke by winning a drama-filled Australian GP.

Sebastian Vettel (in his speedy Red Bull car) was dominant after starting at pole position but Button was able to edge Vettel after the Red Bull car suffered from brake failure. An early swap to dry-weather slick tires in the midst of changing weather conditions also helped Button command a lead.

Renault’s Robert Kubica managed to pressure Button but settled for third while the brilliant Ferrari duo rounded up the next two slots with Felipe Massa winning third and Fernando Alonso clocking in two seconds later for fourth.

Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg continues his brilliant showing as he finished fifth while Lewis Hamilton got the bad end of the deal of McLaren’s tire change strategy and a rear-end bump from Mark Webber forcing him to cross the line at sixth.

Michael Schumacher settled for just a point settling for tenth place.

The kid may have initially proven that given the same car, he’s much faster than the defending world champion. Too bad, team McLaren doesn’t have the fastest car in the field right now. Lewis Hamilton says that the Red Bull car is “ridiculously faster than anyone else’s.”

“Even at the end of the year they had so much more than us, even though we had won a couple of grands prix. They have got the fastest car by quite a big step. They should be quite a lot further ahead in general,” said Hamilton.

The recent Bahrain GP saw a Ferrari 1-2 with Hamilton managing to pip pole-sitter and Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel for third. Still, he believes that the Red Bull car has got so much to offer.

As for the cars, Hamilton thinks that McLaren and Mercedes has got the best cars next to Red Bull.

That’s one good way to say that Vettel and Mark Webber’s got squat on him and those guys from Mercedes and Ferrari.

Looks like it’ll be a great season for Ferrari if what we’ve seen in the Bahrain GP will be the template for the rest of the season.

Former world champion Fernando Alonso secured the win for Ferrari after starting the race at third. Pole sitter Sebastian Vettel had to drop back and settle for fourth due to an exhaust problem. Alonso teammate Felipe Massa was able to snatch second to seal the Ferrari 1-2.

Michael Schumacher’s much-hyped return didn’t exactly disappoint either, securing a solid sixth place finish behind teammate Nico Rosberg who impressed greatly with his finish at 5th.

McLaren’s British duo also took the spotlight with Lewis Hamilton proving that he has better pace by finishing third over teammate and defending world champion Jenson Button who had to settle behind Schumacher.

Rounding up the points-scoring slots are Red Bull’s Mark Webber, Force India’s Valentino Liuzzi and Willam’s Rubens Barrichello.

Better late than never. They might not have made it for the initial rounds of testing but at least they’re one step closer to actually competing.

This here’s the Hispania Racing F1 Team (HRT) Formula 1 car. Nothing special about the car, really. And the grey paint job is as dull as heck. The car’s designed by Italian firm Dallara. HRT, however, hopes that the car would earn them respectable finishes this year.

If you’re wondering why HRT is competing even if they weren’t awarded a slot last year, it’s because it’s technically a name change. Campos Grand Prix had a lot of financial trouble and decided to sell the team to the Spaniards.

Piloting the car is Indian driver Karun Chandhok and Brazilian Bruno Senna (Ayrton Sena’s nephew). The car will be ready for the new round of tests in Bahrain.

As such, the RB6 draws from the many strengths of the RB5 something that even rival cars are picking up as well – especially the V-nose front end.

This, year, the V-nose is more extreme and integrates high side pods and a “shark fin” engine cover.

Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel return to pilot the car this season.

Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil are designated to pilot for Force India next season. Paul di Resta will serve as test driver.

“It’s the first time we have been completely on schedule so I feel this will be the first season when I can show from the beginning to the end what is possible on the car and what I can do. I’d like to be in the midfield and be competitive from Bahrain,” said Mallya.

Virgin Racing will soon have their cherry popped soon and they’ll be doing it with the VR-01. (Unclassy? Deal with it.)

Virgin Racing entered F1 as Manor Grand Prix. It’s the first of the four new teams to unveil their racer. What’s interesting with this car is that it’s design using computational fluid dynamics rather than with a more traditional wind tunnel. Let’s see if pure math can trump the good ol’ wind tunnel.

The car will be powered by a 2.4L V8 Cosworth engine.

Virgin Racing might be first timers in F1 but the team behind it is composed not of racing rookies. Manor Motorsport has been participating in Formula Three races and helped launch the careers of Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton.

The car will be piloted by Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi.
